Pluto - the Next Step

Some astronomers may think they’re getting a good laugh at the expense of astrologers, but the laugh is on them. They didn’t get the best of us yet.

The demotion of Pluto does not lessen its impact, or prove astrology wrong. Changing a name or status of a celestial body does not affect astrology. Astrology is based on thousands of years of observation, not on names. Pluto may be a dwarf planet, but that doesn't change the way it acts, if anything it may be more powerful. We know that the smaller a package is, the more valuable it may be, think diamonds or gold nuggets.

Here’s good example of the impact of Pluto in a chart. I’m digging out Mel Gibson's chart again. At the end of July, Mel Gibson was in the news due to a DUI (driving under the influence). Check my archives for more on Mel, also Jeffrey Kishner at Astrology at the Movies. Jeffrey pointed out the importance of the Pluto square to Mel’s midheaven at the time of the arrest.

Click here for Mel Gibson's chart

Pluto brings events of a deep, life changing nature, and reputation is shown by the midheaven, (MC), which brought the DUI to the attention of the masses (Pluto). This was a life-transforming event for him. Over the next year or so we may see how it affected him, but don’t forget Pluto can be very secretive, so we may not.

Does Pluto still rule Scorpio?

For several years, Pluto has been considered a co-ruler of Scorpio along with Mars. With the downgrade of Pluto to a dwarf planet, we need to re-think co-rulership. I for one work with classical rulerships. I always consider them first, but I still look at co-rulership. In classical astrology, the first seven planets rule the twelve signs. The Sun and the Moon are called “lights”, rather than planets, but they are still sign rulers.

When we read a chart, we always look at the houses involved by rulership to help explain an event. In Mel’s chart, Scorpio is on the fifth house, which is tied in with entertainment, and the modern co-ruler is Pluto (or used to be). If he hadn’t been a movie star, the news would not have been a big deal. If Pluto is co-ruler of the fifth house, this explains the Hollywood connection. Pluto square to the MC involved his reputation and the fifth house is entertainment. This makes sense; he's a movie star.

Is this a reason to say that Pluto still co-rules Scorpio? The fact that Pluto may no longer rule Scorpio does not affect how it works. It only affects the house it relates to by rulership. We need to do more testing and make life observations to come up with answers. Some astrologers will say a planet is a planet, dwarf or not, and that it is grandfathered in, so to speak. (This is what some of the astronomers are claiming.) Time will tell.

Just for a moment, let me digress. I often wonder if the one thing that may explain the successful phenomenon of co-rulership is what is called consensus reality. (For you die-hard "astrology is a science" buffs, I know I'm getting away from the strictly scientific aspect of astrology). Consensus reality means that there is a hidden metaphysical agreement, or contract, among humans about beliefs. If this is true, then the belief that Pluto rules Scorpio has become a consensus reality contract, and thus it works.

Other Rulers

Moving on from the transit by Pluto, I want to incude some toughts on the other outer planets as rulers. Mel's natal Uranus, Neptune, Mercury are in a difficult natal T-square. His progressed Moon was coming up to progressed Uranus within 43 seconds. The progressed Moon moves on the average one degree per month and has an orb of approximately one-degree. This forecasted that within one to two months something unexpected and rebellious, (Uranus) would affect the way he communicates (Mercury) due to something of an escapist nature, (Neptune). The Moon affected all three planets because they were in a natal relationship. However, the progressed Moon on its own did not cause the event. It too needed something to trigger it. Even though the progressed Moon had over a one-degree orb to natal Mercury, he started feeling the effects when the progressed Moon moved into position with progressed Uranus, but it needed something else to cause an event.

When the ruler of the ascendant is involved, it makes thing personal and physical. His ascendant is Cancer, ruled by the Moon. Wham, things got upfront and personal!

Look at the house related to Uranus and Neptune to see if they are connected in some way with the DUI. For Uranus it's the eighth, (death and darkness), and the ninth, (legal action), and for Neptune it's the tenth (reputation). Mercury is straightforward, it rules the fourth (early conditioning) and twelfth (jails). You may be even more confused than ever. Sometimes astrology is like spaghetti, it all ravels together, and we have to carefully wind it around our spoon to extract it.

One aspect by itself never causes an event, especially a progression. Many astrologers say that the progressed Moon must be active to create an event. To further determine if there is there is going to be an event, I use what I call "The Rule of Three", which I will talk about in a later post.

I am not proposing that the outer planets are rulers in the classical sense. They're not. It's time we start observing to see what they do, and not jump to conslusions. This means going through thousands of charts over many years to see how they relate to signs. There is a connection to the signs, but what it is I don't know yet.

We have the opportunity to think about Pluto in a new way, and as Debbie Kempton-Smith mentioned in a previous comment section we have to be open to new discoveries, not retreating into old myths.

My parting shot - if Pluto is a dwarf this may be more of a reason to be nice to him.

I got a wonderful chuckle, when I read Barbara Palliser’s article on Pluto and Virgo over at Silverwheel Astrolgy. It made me smile and get ready to dig deep into my closet. Then there’s a nice scientific approach, with more to come, from Phil Brown at the Astroblog, and just in, a witty article from Debbi Kempton-Smith who wrote the Stargazer’s Notebook, a book which I really like, and recommend to new and old astrologers when you want a good, thought-provoking, read.

The Death of Pluto

There is one more thought I would like to throw out. The demotion of Pluto, the planet of death and transiton, may be showing us that the vibration of death and violence is changing and dying out. How much of a fight it will be will be shown by the resisitance to the changes made by the IAU today.

Pluto - To Be or Not To Be a Planet?

Pluto - to be or not be be a ruler, and should Uranus benext?

Today our solar system has gone from nine planets to eight. The IAU has downgraded Pluto from the big planetary club to a dwarf planet, (at least for now). Many astrologers will be dismayed and upset. They'll say, even if it is such a tiny little thing, it packs such a powerful punch, how can they do that? The vote may not be the last word, and may lead to a fight among astronomers around the world. Fights are not foreign to astrologers. We’ve been arguing about definitions and classifications for a long time.

It's ironic that Michael Brown, the discoverer of UB313 which was up for planetary status, said that "Pluto is dead", how apropos. For those of you just learning astrology, Pluto is associated with death. This proves that the legends of planets live on, no matter what we do to them.

Because Pluto is now labeled a dwarf does this mean it will be less powerful? Or does this mean it will truly come into its own? We have seen the power of Pluto over the years. When it passes by, it leaves nothing the same.

One of the big squabbles in astrology is over what is called rulership and domain. Shortly after Pluto was discovered in 1930, several astrologers wanted to modernize astrology by changing the system of rulership. They weren't satisfied with the way ancient astrologers mapped out the system of rulership. Now with the demotion of Pluto, its co-rulership is no longer valid. However, take heart, even if Pluto is no longer a ruler, it will still be active in any astrology chart.

As I jokingly said to a Scorpio last night, if Pluto is downgraded, you won't have to be manipulative and intense, instead you can be full of martian assertion and energy. She knew what I meant, just smiled with relief and said, "thank you." People love to dump the manipulative tag on Scorpios. We should remember that Scorpio first got its association with intensity and transformation from its connection with the eighth house, not Pluto.

We need to meditate on, and ponder, the meaning of rulership. Maybe we need to redefine our guidelines just as the astronomers have done. We must think about why the ancients used rulership. Put yourself in their shoes, their culture, and their time. They were working with a known visible world, and applied planetary rulership to signs, which they then drew on a map signifying their three dimensional world. Do we need outer planets to describe the known physical world, or are they trying to lead us beyond it? Do they want to be rulers for just one sign? Does Uranus want to be stuck with Aquarius?

We need to honestly look at the co-rulership of Uranus. Should a rebellious, planet causing sudden, unexpected, events, rule Aquarius, a fixed sign? If the new age of Aquarius is one of peace and brotherhood, do we want to think of the planet of rebellion as the ruler of the Aquarian Age? Often whenI discuss rulership with an Aquarian astrologer, I find they're very fixed and stubborn about the Uranian rulership. They don't want to give it up. They want to be thought of as rebellious, independent and different, not stodgy and boring like Saturn.

Uranus certainly has a mind of its own. Uranus is the only planet that has three pronunciations.

Ur-Ahn-Us which sounds like I should bow down to the queen.
Urin-Us which sounds like a bathroom.
U-Rain-Us which sounds like I need my umbrella, or maybe I'm looking at the Moon.

Astrologers are very protective, or even uppity about how they pronounce Uranus. Have you ever noticed when you pronounce it your way, someone immediately chimes in with his or her way? Leave it to Uranus to create havoc with just a word.

The demotion of Pluto will be food for discussion for many days, weeks, months, and maybe years.

Is Tom Cruise on the Outs with Hollywood?

Yesterday Paramount Pictures decided to part ways with Tom Cruise. They cited his relationship with the mother of his child, Katie Holmes, and his criticism on antidrpressants.

Tom Cruise was born 7/3/62 3:06 PM Syracuse, NY.

His Sun, noticeable near the top of his chart, is in a grand trine with Neptune, (film) and Jupiter (success). This grand trine has brought him enormous success in movies with Jupiter in the 5th house of entertainment. Neptune in the first house adds to his interest in film and fantasy, and gives him his romantic persona. A Cancer Sun is very much in tune with the needs of the pubic, and this has made him an astute judge of what will be popular. However, Cancer rules the moods of the public, and Cancer is a weak sign for the Sun, the Sun has no dignity. We must turn to the Moon to understand why he must be careful with his emotional life and public perception.

The Moon is not in great condition. The natal Moon is in a wide fixed t-square with Neptune and Saturn. That same Neptune that brings him success in films makes him vulnerable to the moods of the public; he must watch how he acts in public. For the most part he has been very careful, he is not known for wild parties, drugs, and drinking, and he's often been supportive of the underdog. The Moon also makes a square to natal Saturn. Saturn is the one who requires that we work hard, and makes us pay for mistakes.

His Midheaven is also involved with the same t-square, and since it is closer by degree, it is very potent. The Midheaven deals with reputation in the world, just as the Moon deals with notice by the public. The Moon is right up there with his Midheaven, so he is constantly in the public eye, and under scrutiny for his reputation. This position is often involved when jealousy rears its ugly head.

In addition, the Moon doesn’t like to be in the sign Leo; it has no dignity, just as the Sun in Cancer has no dignity. But here’s the twist, the Sun and Leo are in each other’s signs which gives them dignity by exchange. This is called mutual reception, and this helps him get out of his dilemmas. However, anything that affects the Sun affects the Moon for better or worse, but because the Sun has good natal aspects, it is usually for the better.

We’ve set up some of the patterns in his chart, so let’s see how they are being activated. On the surface it sounds like he’s had a bombshell dropped in his lap, but the chart says maybe not.

Since last fall, there has been a fixed t-square creating havoc for almost everyone. For Tom Cruise, this t-square has been flirting with his natal t-square – MC/Moon, Neptune and Jupiter. It has moved on, but it shows that circumstances were set up starting last fall.

We know the 10th house is reputation and that the Moon and Sun go hand in hand by mutual reception. The Sun is the ruler of the 10th house (Midheaven). When a transit hits his Sun, it triggers his Moon as well, brings notice by the general public, as well as his fans.

Transit Jupiter and Uranus have both been activating his Sun by trine for many months. Uranus brings unexpected events, such as the birth of his child, but it also brings things to a sudden end it they’re not helping him. Jupiter is a planet that deals out success and in trine to the Sun, we see that he is heading for bigger and better things. This is not without problems, because it is also triggering the t-square with the Moon,/Midheaven, Jupiter, and Neptune. The t-square that makes the movie industry try to trip him up, but also makes us stand up and notice him. Jupiter made a conjunction to Neptune a few weeks ago and back door dealings and deception started then.

For now, he’s in a despicable situation, and he’s been getting bad press for his couch antics, and mouthing off, but something is going to bail him out, just as it did for Mel Gibson last month. Mel got more publicity than normal, and Tom’s name is on the front page once again. Bad news is often good news in Hollywood. Notoriety of any kind is important.

JonBenet Ramsey Chart Anyalysis

As I mentioned in a previous post, the story about JonBenet is breaking at the same time as news about the announcement from the IAU next week. On Thursday they will be taking a vote to decide on the number of planets revolving around our Sun.

JonBenet is the feminine cut down at a young age. She was kidnapped and taken to a subterranean level and found murdered. (Demeter's daughter Persephone was kidnapped and taken to the underworld by Pluto.) A possible suspect now appears and there is confusion about whether or not he did it. Between the IAU announcement about feminine planets, and JonBenet, we are being shown it is time for the feminine to be acknowledged, but this is not easy. We don't know what to do with it or how to go about it. The way the case is going it may be a long time before they solve this case. Her case has been unsolved for ten years, but the investigators have not given up. We too must keep our resolve to bring the feminine out of the darkness. Are we going to let the sacrifice of JonBenet at such a young age be wasted?

Years ago, the spiritual, intuitive astrolger, Isabelle Hickey wrote about two sides of Pluto. She called one of them Minerva, the highest side of Pluto. Now we are being told that Pluto is part of a Binary system with Charon, proving that she was right. Pluto is part of two.

Just a quick note on JonBenet's chart. Transiting Jupiter is now coming up to a conjunction of Pluto triggering the malefic natal t-square between Pluto, Mars and the Sun. Jupiter is the ruler of her 8th house of death. As you may have heard many times, the chart lives on.

For those of you who would like an analysis of JonBenet's chart go to Lynn Hayes post at Astrological Musings.

Charon, Ceres, Plutons - Where Do We Go Now?

I had several topics all lined up for my blogs for the next week. How quickly things change.

Our Universe is going topsy turvey, and I don't mean a tilt, or a pole shift. Our world may be redefined by three new planets. We haven't had this big a shift in astrology and astronomy since Pluto was discovered in 1930.

Within the next few days, we may bring the planets up to a total of twelve. Twelve is a great number, (the number thirteen is going to be out of this world). We had an idea that UB313 (Xena) may be designated a planet, but Ceres, and especially Charon, is a surprise for many.

This will also bring the International Astronomical Union into the minds of the public, a good thing.

What Should Astrologers Do?

Since the IAU is doing some long needed classification, astrologers need to come together and make some agreements. This is not just for astrologers, but for those watching us, and for those we teach. However we're such a maverick group, often making our own rules, why ruin a good thing? With all the conspiracy theories, spying, and threats to free speech, do we need more regulation? By the way, a Federal Judge in Detroit, Michigan has ruled NSA warantless, wiretapping in the US unconstitutional.

As taught in classical astrology, there are seven planets. They are the basis for all delineations, while the other planets are supposed to give information only. If you think about it, this makes sense. The outer planets are beyond the realm of daily physical life. We cannot see them. However, we know they're there, so they should be included on some level.

In classical astrology, the seventh planet, Saturn, is the bridge. Saturn is the planet at the edge of the known Universe, the bridge from the seen to the unseen. At times, Uranus is also seen by the naked eye; even some of the ancient astrologers were aware of Uranus. It is the first step into the unseen, unknown, extraordinary, world.

Rulership

At the beginning of the 20th Century after the discovery of Pluto, astrologers started assigning sign rulership to the outer planets. Uranus a rebellious, independent, sign was assigned the rulership of the fixed, air sign, Aquarius. Neptune was assigned to the mutable, water sign, Pisces, and Pluto was assigned to the fixed, water sign, Scorpio. You will find that some astrologers concede to what is called co-rulership, some astrologers ignore outer planets as rulers in any form, and a few insist on outer planet rulership only. What a tangle.

What shall we do with twelve planets, and possible twenty or more? Shall we assign three or more planets to a sign? This gets a little confusing. If astronomers are willing to change the definition of a planet, astrologers need to understand classical rulership, and observe how all the planets fit together.

I have found that the outer planets are very important in readings. They create powerful events and changes. Where I see the obvious difference is in a branch of astrology called Horary. A chart is drawn up at a certain time to answer a specific question; the natal chart is only a secondary focus. If the classical planets are not used as rulers, the reading is sketchy and often wrong. The answer is based on luck and personal insight more than anything else.

The reasoning of the turn-of-the-century astrologers was good, and everything seemed to fit together perfectly, so we thought. Uranus forced us to break out, and astrology was no longer a moldy, static, science, or relegated to a hidden, back room, behind the curtain, reading. We do need to move forward, but we also need to combine the old rules (Saturn) with new ideas (Uranus).

How do we define the new planets?

When a new object is discovered, astrologers ponder the events that coincide with the discovery of that body. This is one way that we discover the meanings and symbols. We also look at the current events related to the planet, the charts of our clients, and the charts of people in the news.. Notice what’s going on in the world, read the news. I mentioned Ceres and Charon in a previous post on JonBenet Ramsey.

I have read many insightful blogs on the web by astrologers that will help fit together all the pieces, and here's a list of a few good sites.

JonBenet Ramsey, Ceres, Charon

Chart

JonBenet is in the news again after 10 years. JonBenet, a child beauty queen, known as the "Tiny Little Miss", was a homicide victim when she was six years old in 1996. Her body was found in the basement of her home, and the case was never solved.

A suspect, a 41 year old 2nd grade, schoolteacher has been arrested in Thailand and will be returned to the US.

This is significant for at the same time, the IAU has announced that it may classify Charon and Ceres as planets. In Greek mythology Charon ferried souls across the river Styx (Acheron) to Hades, (Pluto). Ceres symbolizes childhood nurturing, and is the goddess of fertility and crops especially grains. The name Cereal comes from Ceres, and in some mythological circles Ceres is also Demeter, whose daughter was kidnapped and taken to the underworld.

Does anyone have a comment on the metaphysical nature of these events? If you want, I'll post my interpretation later.

Zodiac Babies

Your Child's Sun Sign

Each month the sun goes into a new sign on approximately the 20th -21st of the month. This varies month to month and year to year. The 21st is called the cusp. If you child was born on the cusp, you may need to have the chart cast just to be sure of the correct sun sign. Click here to order an extradinoray personal report just for your baby. They make great gifts for new parents.

Spring Babies

Aries March 20 - April 21

Action and energy is the key to an Aries baby. Aries is always moving around, and once they know how to use their vocal cords they will use them a lot, for they love to make loud sounds and airplane noises. When they start crawling or walking they will be into everything with enthusiasm.

They have short bursts of energy, and this encompasses everything from movement to temper. Their temper tantrums may be loud, but they are short lived and soon forgotten. They will forge ahead in life, looking for the newest adventure - it is not just curiosity, it is action and the excitement of something new that attracts them. Baby walkers and things that help them move will not be tolerated for long, they want to do it themselves. They are the leaders, watch them get other children to play a game their way.

Do not humiliate them or they will get rebellious. Allow them to make mistakes within safe boundaries.

They enjoy action toys and things like jump ropes, fire trucks, footballs and fast computer games. They want to play swords, but you must be careful with sharp things for they have a tendency to be impulsive and inattentive. They like things that will challenge their body such as hopscotch or jungle gyms.

When you read them a story they are the type who will jump up to look at the picture, settle back down, then jump up again, over and over. They like rough and ready type stories with lots of adventure and wandering off into the unknown. Story time is not usually quiet, and they don't always settle down easily. They feel as if they can do anything and will relate to the story about The Little Engine That Could.

They are very headstrong in more ways than one -- watch for injuries to the head.

Taurus April 20 -May 21

Taurus is patient and conservative. They may seem slow, but this has to do with their senses. They like to feel their way through life, and they need to sense that they are safe and secure before they venture out. The bull is the symbol for Taurus, and just like the bull they are slow to anger, but watch out when they blow; if they see red, they will instantly charge at you with all their might, either physically or emotionally. They need to find a way to let off that steam occasionally because they are slow to react, and they have a tendency to let things build up.
They are not usually athletic, but they have stamina. They need movement in some form or they will have weight problems.

Although the intellect is not their focus, they have good memories, and when they understand something, they understand it well; so as you start to educate them be patient and let them go at their own pace.

They love color and texture. Put colorful mobiles and pictures in their room, and over the crib. Have storybooks with textured pictures they can touch. They will love making things out of play dough and clay. Keep them busy at Christmas making cranberry wreaths and Santa's out of dough.

They are collectors and love material things, so their rooms will end up being filled with the things they love; material things give them a feeling of security. And don't be surprised if they love digging in the sand at the beach and making sand castles.

The sensitive part of the body for Taurus is the neck. Keep it warm in the winter or they will have throat problems.

Gemini May 20 - June 21

Gemini is know as the twins, and you will find you have two little people rolled into one. At times a Gemini is fun-loving and at other times moody. They are mental, restless, and fidgety, and like a butterfly, always flitting around.
Their temper is mentally oriented so they will be more fitful than angry. They would rather plan out things and scheme, or talk you into a corner to get their way, rather than using temper tantrums, or loving hugs or smiles, unless they figure out that affection will serve their purpose.
You will often hear "why", "why", "why", and then they don't listen to the explanation. They are curious about life, and want to know everything, but they don’t stop to examine. Their nature is changeable, and you will often wonder - "who will you be today little one when you get up?"

Because Gemini is an air sign, the little Gemini will gravitate to books, games and puzzles. They need a variety of toys to keep them from getting bored. Games like hopscotch and jacks are good for them, it keeps them moving from place to place and uses up all that restless energy.
Constantly change their bedtime stories. They will be the type to listen to the story, then notice the sounds outside, move around, and change their position, and though they lose interest for a bit, they will come back to the story. You may have to change the inflection of your voice to keep them interested.

The lungs and hands are the sensitive part of the body. Make sure their chests are covered in the winter and keep on top of any lung infections.

Summer babies

Cancer June 20 - July 21

Cancer is known as the crab, and with those powerful tentacles they are able to cling to almost anything, anywhere. Cancer, a water sign, can be very emotional, but your little Cancer are will move on quickly from moods, crying one moment, smiling and gurgling the next. They change their mood for the better when they know they are safe. If they don't feel safe, they will use those tentacles to hang on for dear life, hanging onto your skirts when they meet strangers.
If they are around any confrontation they will scurry away, or find a way to withdraw; they do not like to be in the midst of the fray. Cancer is all about nurturing and mothering; keep their food close by, for food is a comfort to them and a hook to survival.
Family and heredity are another part of their security and they will carve out a family, whether it is their natural family, friends, or cohorts. They may even connect to great, great, great, great, great grandfather, establishing family by hanging on to stories of days gone by. Home is their shelter and no matter how far a-field they may wander, they will always find their way back.

They love soft toys they can grab onto, moving lights, and water. In the summer they will sit for hours and splash in their little pools as long as you stay by them for security. They enjoy tales about families, baby animals, and the sea, and will listen with rapt attention with their thumb, a bottle, or their blanky in their mouth.

They have sensitive stomachs, feeding time is important, and it may take them longer than usual to get used to new foods, but they their love food. Watch for tummy aches.

Leo July 20 - Aug 21

Leo loves to be with people and be the center of attention, and they will find a way to play to the crowd, whether it be dress up, singing and dancing, making people smile and laugh, or if that doesn't work, they have been known to use temper tantrums.

They are generous with their feelings and want everyone else to feel good. They wither if they do not get enough praise. Even if someone just doesn't pay attention to them because they have other things on their mind, the Leo thinks they have done something wrong.

Although they are optimistic, they will eventually buckle under if they are around too much negativity. This is the one time when they get moody. They need sunlight or bright cheery rooms, have lost of bright colors especially yellow or paint the walls a bright yellow.

Even after they leave childhood, they say the word "I" frequently. This is not an indication of being selfish, it is just their mode of speech; "you" or "we" are not strong in their vocabulary. They say "I know" quite a bit, even though this phrase belongs to Aquarius. If you asked them - "what do mean when you say I know?" they would wonder what you were talking about. They are not trying to show how smart and wonderful they are, this is just their way of agreeing, and trying to prove that they are intelligent. They are not being argumentative, it is just one of their reflex phrases.

They like toys with glitter and shine and anything that makes them look good. They will enjoy playing dress up in fancy clothes or costumes with a lot of fine frills. Buy them a little stage and they will be in their glory, they are the ultimate performers. 'They love games of chance, give them a deck of cards and they will soon be winning every game.

They have a pretty good immune system, but watch for fevers and keep them from getting overheated or chilled and then going into an opposite temperature. They love warmth.
They are risk-takers so teach them how to play carefully.
On a psychological note, their heart is easily broken. They need to have sunlight in some form and this does not mean going to the beach, don't put heavy, dark curtains on the windows in their room, or at least open the curtains as often as possible and let the sunlight in.
The key to Leo is - "praise the child in a honest fashion, and the child will do almost anything for you".

Virgo Aug 20- Sep 21

They love nooks and crannies so you better childproof everything at an early age. They don't miss a trick, so when you try to hide something from them, they will ferret it out.

They are perfectionists and very self-critical because they want to be the best they can be. Their little minds go a mile a minute trying to figure out what they did wrong, or why someone is reacting to them in a certain way. You will have to learn how to discipline and criticize them in a way that is productive because they are already one step ahead of you, mentally yelling at themselves for anything they did wrong. This does not mean that you have to tolerate every misdeed, you just have to work out the problem with them in a balanced fashion.

They are very mental and good at analyzing everything down to the last little detail. They will work hard to improve themselves even against all odds. They are usually fair to everyone as long as other people do their share. When they know someone is doing the best they can, the Virgo will bend over backward to take up any slack to help them, however if anyone is slacking off and they have to do their work for them they will resent it.

Miniatures, train sets, or detailed games, will keep them occupied for hours. The more intricate the picture puzzle, the smaller the detail, or the more pieces to a project, the happier they will be. Even though they get totally frustrated at times, keep encouraging them, and show then how well they have done up to that point. They enjoy things that develop their natural dexterity - cutting out paper shapes, making small intricate things, weaving complicated knots, and games like jacks.

I have found Virgo children to have sensitive stomachs due to worry and anxiety. They will be fussy about toilet training, and it will be worse if they feel any shame . They need to learn to establish their own private ritual. They are fascinated by their hands and you will often see all their fingers in their mouth, not just their thumbs.

Fall Babies

Libra September 20 - October 21

Libra gives the ability to be warm and affectionate. These little ones can charm you, and are very subtle and skillful at getting their needs met. They are very social and need companionship. When other people are not around they need to be occupied with fun activities and pleasant upbeat music.

One of the keys to Libra is harmony, but this does not mean that they are always harmonious and cheerful. What it means is they are always seeking balance, like the scales which is their symbol. Peace at any cost is their hidden motto. If the family is always in chaos, they will let you know they are displeased or will go to their room.

They do not like choices - they are here to learn decision making skills, even something as simple as, "which toy should I play with"? can be a big deal. Start supporting their decision making skills from an early age.

They like classy toys. If you buy them a simple homemade toy, make sure that it looks good or they may throw it across the room, nothing dull and earthy for them. Even though they have an an artistic nature it is not for every type of art, they want elegance - they will not willingly get their fingers dirty making mud pies. They also like toys that are somewhat of a mental challenge. Don't make things too easy. They enjoy stories, especially fairy tales, or simple adventures with a happy ending. They want challenge, not violence.

Libra has a propensity toward allergies which will affect them more when they are run down or overexcited, and they are more susceptible in the fall. When they are first learning potty training they may want to pee a lot, whether they need to or not. They may crave sweets and this should be kept at a minimum, fresh fruits are better than fruit juice, limit their juice and sweet intake. I know many Libra babies who grow up to love Twinkies. (An American Sweet)

Scorpio October 20 - November 21

They are intensely emotional and very secretive. Emotions are so strong they cry as if their heart is broken. They need to be shown ways for positive expression, it is not easy for them to find the silver lining. Transform those dull days by giving them colorful crayons and paper.
Scorpio children are intense, deep, and mysterious, you often wonder what is behind those deep soulful eyes. They never reveal much about what they are truly feeling. They will fuss and the bottle won't quiet them, they hold out their arms, you pick them up and they cry harder. They don't even know what they want, and they won't explain it even if they do know. When they are older, and you ask them what is wrong, they will give you an answer that they think will distract you.

If they are fussy or "off the bottle" ask yourself if you are having a bad day, your little one may be picking up your feelings or the feelings of someone around you, for they are extremely intuitive.

They have a deep interest in big questions and require honest answers. Where did I come from, where do I go if I die, will you always be here?
They are here to transform life in some way.

For stories read then a mystery and they will be quiet and focused, stories of warlocks and dragons won't bother them at all. They love to figure out the mysteries of life. Give them puzzles and they will be entertained for hours.

Potty training is important to them. Help them get a regular schedule going, but don't shame them or they will have problems. Don't force them or they will get stubborn, they will go when they want to go. Get them a little book on what poop is all about. It may fascinate them and they want to know what it is.

Sagittarius November 20 - December 21

They are the fun loving sign of the zodiac, the life of the party; they have a great smile and laugh a lot. They love to be tickled just so they can laugh. They are restless and do not like to be tied down. Car seat time must be approached as an adventure, or they will squirm, and wriggle, and make it an ordeal.

They do not pay attention to details, and they don’t notice if their room is a mess, as long as it is not crowded or looks good to them. If you want them to clean their room turn it into a treasure hunt, or make them think about how much space they will have if they clean things up. Life is a journey for them and they are always seeking exciting, new things.

They like fun athletic equipment, balls to throw around, trampolines, bicycles, archery, and volleyball. They are fascinated by horses and pets. They like to run and are seldom still, and they love to explore new places. When they are older they may rather watch a soccer game, than a football game, because they don't want to be confined in all that gear; they want to feel free to move around.

The most vulnerable parts of the body for a young Sagittarian are the thighs. Because they are so active and always running around, be prepared for scrapes and injured muscles. Usually they are not moody, but they do need movement and light or they will feel depressed; you may notice this more in the winter.

Winter Babies

Capricorn December 20- January 21

They are old when they are young, and young when they are old, staring at you with serious, wise old eyes; they are the sages. Life is serious, and they are here to learn. This seriousness will seem to melt away as they get older, then you will see their wit, for they do have a great sense of humor hidden behind all that seriousness. They look to older people and usually gravitate toward older friends.

They adhere easily to rules, and boundaries. If you teach them to stay in the yard, they will do so. If they know that it is the law to go to bed at a certain time, they won’t put up much of a fight. When a younger brother or sister comes along they will act like a parent, they are very responsible. They are very loyal to those they love.

Capricorn is the mountain goat, whose slow and sure footing gets them to the top, so their upward climb through life will be slow, as they look for the safe and best way.

They like traditional toys, things that have a purpose, help them learn, or lead them to a goal. They like to build things, whether it is sand castles at the beach, or towers and fortresses with building blocks at home. As they get older an erector set, or building a dollhouse, will keep them busy and act as a teaching tool at the same time.

The bones, especially the knees and teeth, are subject to problems. It is amazing if a Capricorn leaves childhood without at least one break. Scraped knees will be a frequent occurrence. In the teen years skin problems are common. Watch their teeth, floss and brush, and keep the sugar down or they will have problems.

Aquarius January 20 - February 19

Now here is a unique, free spirit. Don’t fence them in. They need their freedom. They like groups better than one-on-one, but they will not get close to the group. Closeness is not in their nature. They don't want to be the leader in the group, but they will not be follow either, they just want to be around more people then just one.

They will usually have many acquaintances, not truly close friends. They seem detached only because they are in their head, more than their feelings, and they probably won’t express their love for you very often in an affectionate, emotional way. When they grunt out a few words of acknowledgement they really are being affectionate. They will probably be the, "oh Ma" type if you hug them too much. This does not mean they don’t care; they are just very mental.
They can be stubborn when their mind is made up, so good luck trying to change it, you will feel as though you are talking to yourself. When you are trying to get a point across, let them think it is their idea.
They are ruled by two planets, Uranus and Saturn. Uranus gives them the independent, let's go ahead in life nature, but Saturn brings out their fearful side, and they will act it out in some way, so don't be surprised if your fearless wonder is afraid of certain bugs or dogs, or things that rush at them quickly.

They are the wizards of world. They love gadgets, widgets, and scientific things, like science sets. They are fascinated by electricity, so make sure all your electrical outlets are baby proof. They like the unusual. Unless there are other indications in their chart, they will be happy with unusual toys. Dress the teddy bear from grandma in a space suit. Give them a toy computer and they will master it quickly; later they will master the real thing in no time. They will get lost in computer games.

Sturdy shoes are important for they may have weak ankles. This explains any difficulty learning to walk, such as clumsiness when learning to walk, and tripping constantly; find ways to strengthen their ankles.

Pisces February 19- March 21

Pisces is the greatest of the dreamers, fascinated by fantasy. They are extremely sensitive and will jump at loud noises. When they came out of the womb into the bright lights, they would have jumped back in if they could. It is the shock of going from a flowing, watery world to something more solid. If you think you are going to have a Pisces baby, you may want to try water birthing.

They are like little fish flowing from one experience to another. They don’t like to be teased, and may be shy or quiet. They don't want to pay attention to harsh reality; in fact they will find ways to avoid it. Soft colors, soft music and floaty things near the crib will soothe them.

They love soft beautiful toys, and fanciful fairytales -- good witches are ok, but no violent dragons and demons for them. A coloring book and crayons will be a best friend for them, water pastels and a little drawing table, sticker books with glittery stickers. They like to play pretend and dress up in fanciful costumes. They have vivid imaginations and often play with little friends you cannot see. You may hear them softly singing or talking in their bed at night to someone who is not there. They could spend hours in front of a TV or an aquarium. Even though they prefer happily-ever after-stories, it is good to introduce some reality based stories as long as they aren't too harsh. They need to learn that the world is a real place, but this must be done a little at a time.

They love to play with their feet. Give them pretty, soft, pastel booties to wear. Stubbed toes will be an issue for them as they grow, so give them sturdy shoes when they start to move around on their own.

There are many other factors in the chart that will shape your child, this report is based on the sun sign only. You can either have a chart consultation or you can order the Zodiac Child Report, an illustrated booklet that goes into more detail about your child.

Cosmic Rays

If anyone has ever wondered how in the world a planet affects us, astrology suggests many ways, such as natal aspects, transits and eclipses. We also know of things such as solar flares, and sunspots, and have many theories of how they affect us. Astrometerology is a good example of how space activity is used.
Astronomers hear quite a bit of "space noise" and although they trace some of the noises to distant stars and galaxies, they don't have all the answers. Today APOD posted a good example.

A Cosmic Ray Picture

As stated in the article, low energy has been traced to the Sun, but the source of high cosmic rays are unknown.

Astrologers have known for centuries that we are bombarded by many celestial sources, and some of them are beyond our realm. We know many of the planetary transits that are causing current events, but this may add another explanation to some of the odd weather, and violent reactions on our planet.

The expansion of our consciousness is mirrored by the discoveries of far away stars, super novas, galaxies, black holes, and such. Our universe keeps expanding and so do we.

A Win-Win Situation

We are coming up to the Saturn Neptune opposition.

How do we use this for growth, rather than worrying about it? How do we get Saturn and Neptune to work together? Saturn is about work and responsibility, while Neptune is that creative nebulous world that we can't touch, but we know it's there. At least we hope it's there.

Are you the type of person who enjoys doing something because you want to, just for fun, for creativity, with no deadline? However, when you feel as if you have to do it, do it for work, or you when give yourself a deadline, do you stop in your tracks, maybe procrastinate, or become blocked?

When this happens, realize that this reaction is a vibration; something is going on in your psyche. If you notice it, you'll have an easier time dealing with it. You don't have to go into the deep, dark reasons why your'e holding back, or turning your fun to drudgery, although that will help when you have time to get around to doing an analysis.

A Good Technique

You want to program yourself to notice when this is happening. It's as simple as telling yourself to notice, to let the alarm bell go off in your head.

Have you ever programmed yourself to wake up at a certain time, maybe before your alarm goes off?

Several years ago, I programmed myself to wake up two minutes before a wake-up call. At that time, I didn't totally trust myself, and I often wondered if it was a coincidence, even though I always woke a few minutes before the phone rang. I worked for an airline and they gave us a wake-up call two hours before flight departure. Several months after I started doing this, I woke up two minutes before the call, got up, and when the phone rang and I looked at the clock, I realized the call was thirty-five minutes late. I still woke up two minutes before the rescheduled call! This happened on several other occasions, and as the airlines experienced more and more delays, I was thankful for this technique. I often had to get up in the middle of the night after going to sleep just four hours earlier because of a delay. Our super-conscious never lets us down.

Tell your superconscious self that when you suddenly balk at something, you'll notice the feeling, and adjust your thoughts so that you feel better and do your work with ease. After doing this for a while, you’ll see that vibrations are easy to change. Think of yourself as the general or the CEO putting out a command, and those who work for you always listen and help. (If you live in Europe or the Britain, think of this as a Cosmic Order.) We are used to wallowing in our negative emotions, and it will soon become a habit to notice and change them. This is where Neptune comes in. Neptune is that creative, unseen world that helps us do things that are not part of the physical world.

Say something to yourself like, "adjust vibration". Pretend that everything is getting easier. Tell yourself, you want to see the joy in what you’re doing. Saturn is in Leo; Leo likes joy.

Saturn will like this very much, even though it’s not up Saturn's alley to do the ephemeral thing. But if it gets the job done, he’s very allowing.

Saturn is opposing Neptune. An opposition means choice, and you’re choosing to take the high road, leading to success. Neptune is happy because your'e doing something "out of this world". Saturn is happy because your'e meeting your goals. It's a win-win situation. The see saw of the opposition is now balanced.

This does not mean that you won't have other challenges with the opposition, but the energy is now channeled in such a way that whatever else happens, things will be easier to deal with.

Terror in Britian Red Alert

British authorities have uncovered a plot that would have harmed airplanes traveling between the UK and the US. They arrested several people who were trying to smuggle devices onto planes in their hand luggage that would have disrupted air travel, caused massive disaster, and loss of life.

What’s going on astrologically?

I'll give you this brief overview. There are many things going on, and the charts for the two countries uncover quite a bit of information.

It started with the Full Aquarius Moon on 8/9. The Sun and Saturn were conjunct, Neptune and the Moon were conjunct, and Jupiter squared all four.

Saturn in Leo, of personal rights, was opposite Neptune in Aquarius, the rights of the collective. Neptune shows that the protest was based on one religion against another, as well as against authority, and what is called the materialist economies of Capitalist countries (Saturn). The Moon and Neptune are both in Aquarius, an air sign associated with the skies and ruler of airplanes. Jupiter makes things bigger.

We are coming up to a Mars/Uranus opposition exact on 8/13. Since it is so close, we're feeling it now, and it was triggered by the Aquarius Full Moon on 8/9. The Mars/Uranus aspect was connected to the Full Moon by what is called rulership. Uranus is the co-ruler of Aquarius.

Mars/Uranus can be a violent aspect. We also see this in China with Saomai, the most violent Typhoon in 50 years. Remember Aquarius is an air sign, and with violent Mars this aspect brings high winds. Hopefully, the release of this aspect will make it easier for China.

Astrologers are often asked if we can predict when and where disasters will occur. We could come close, but this would involve thousands of astrologers looking at thousands of charts and combining the research with astrocartography, past eclipses, Equinoxes, Solstices, and Full and New Moons. The chart of each country must be examined to see how an aspect will affect the country. Do a Full Moon chart for the ruling area of your country to see the effects of the 8/9 Full Moon. For instance in the US it is Washington DC. Also, look to see what Venus was doing. On the day of the Full Moon, Venus was in the degree of the nodes.

Actually, astrologers knew that this would be a difficult Full Moon, and they hit it on the money when they said it would have something to do with humanity and religious beliefs.

The Metaphysics

This is good news from the metaphysical perspective. Authority (Saturn) has stopped a negative event from manifesting. This is where we see the good side of authority. This side cares for others, does the right thing, and protects society so that it may continue to do the Saturn productive thing, and evolve.

The transportation plot tried to move from the ground to the air. Last year, in London those in charge were not able to stop the terror that affected subterranean transportation. This time we see that negativity was not able to move up higher (airplanes/air). A negative vibration cannot move up to a higher positive vibration, it just can’t exist.

We are also seeing that these wars are not about religion, but about bullies who are using this as an excuse.

Now I'm sure there will be many people who will step forward and say this is a plot and part of a conspiracy. As I've mentioned many times before, we must see beyond the illusions (Neptune). We must read the message.

Saturn oppose Neptune involves a choice, and we as a collective have chosen to leave terror behind. This also shows that Britain is not a lackey for other countries. You have come into your own Britain, and you are moving forward. Your sacrifice last year was not lost. This event shows that now the entire world is able to move on. The path became obvious with 911, moved on to the 7/7 and we had many other disasters in between. This is a message; humanity is winning. Thank you, Britain

Attracting What You Love

Yesterday was a good day astrologically speaking. There were no exact, difficult, classical, aspects. (Classical aspects are the basic aspects used by traditional astrologers. They are the conjunction, sextile, square, trine, opposition, parallel, and sometimes the inconjunct, also know as the quincunx.) For a look at the current transits go to my Weekly Planets and Daily Moon Forecast.

I felt the good energy when I started my day, it felt wonderful. Mars is sextile Jupiter, and one of the cross quarter, Lammas, had arrived. I got a lot done, did a lot of writing, and researching, and enjoyed every minute. I sailed through the day, nothing went wrong.

Before I left to see my clients, I was gazing out at a beautiful blue sky, and felt a cool, light breeze, there was a hint of fall. Fall in New England is beautiful, with glorious breezes, clean fresh air, and high puffy white clouds. As the breezes shift through the trees, the leaves sparkle, making soft rustling noises, like the sound of crinkling paper.

The sky was so clear and blue, but where are the large puffy white clouds I love? The summer sky has been rather flat, either hazy blue, overcast, or filled with huge dark thunder clouds. I don't remember seeing any of my favorite cloud shapes all summer.

I had a longing to see these playful shapes, and thought about upcoming fall. It will be here soon with brilliant blue skies, and huge, dazzling, white clouds.

As I was driving to the healing center where I see my clients, I looked at the sky, and was startled. Wow! Everywhere I looked I saw high, puffy white clouds, in all shapes and sizes, the first I've seen all summer.

Did I create them? Did the Universe say, let's grant her Cosmic Order? Or was I just being intuitive? Whatever. It didn't cost me a dime; there was no entertainment charge from anyone on this Earth.

I don't know about your area, but for the past few summers, I've noticed that the heat comes earlier, and the nippy fall weather starts in August. Maybe it's the change of air currents or the jet stream, maybe it's global warming, maybe there's a tad of a new tilt, but there's not a doubt in my mind, there's a change in the air, and I'm attracting what I love.

The Metaphysics of Falling From Grace

More on Mel Gibson and his DUI

As many are aware, most of my blogs are on astrology, but I’m often given information on events, and told to read them from a metaphysical perspective, as well as astrological. One of my readers in an earlier asked me for this analysis. Look to my previous posts for more astrological insights, and links to other sites. This post is mostly a focus on Neptune and spirituality.

There is a part of us, whether you call it the superconscious, oversoul, or higher self, which is very aware of what we're doing in life. It helps us evolve, and sees how we fit into the bigger global picture. We're all connected in some way. The higher power, the Universe, Source, Great Spirit, God, or whatever name is used, wants us to evolve, and delights in any circumstance that brings us closer to the Light.

As I've said in previous posts, we have to get beyond the people, and in this instance, we have to get beyond judging the event. Yes, at first, a little part of me was disappointed to see that Mel was doing an ordinary thing getting loaded in a bar, hanging onto women, and then as Jeffrey Kirshner said "he did the Pluto racist thing." There is a smorgasbord of active aspects in his chart this month. Pluto is a big one, bringing him to the attention of the public and affecting his career through his arrest.

Everyone’s reaction is their own personal "moving-forward" opportunity. This is a “Pay Attention Moment”. To get an idea of "Pay Attention Moments" and their symbols, go to these posts to read the article "A New Star is Born" and another about the water break.

If we focus on the fact that Mel Gibson did something bad, and acted like a jerk, we miss the message. We have to get out of our negative, emotional reactions. Forgiving, or not forgiving, is not what's important, understanding is.

Think of all the things this incident brought up, and because it was publicized all over the world, it's important for all of humanity.

  • The war in the Middle East between Israel and Hezbollah
  • Bigotry
  • The Passion of Christ - the movie - Christianity versus Judaism
  • Substance abuse

The War in the Middle East between Israel and Hezbollah

Everyone was horrified that Mel said something bigoted. Many of those who were horrified would like to blurt out something similar, but they wouldn't dare. Not only would they be afraid of being labeled insensitive or bigoted; it may cost them a career, a way of life, or even their life. It was the way he said it that got him into big trouble; it was said in a drunken rage, and that's hard to forgive.

He let us see his personal demons, and for most people that's very uncomfortable. If he got up on a podium and said, "this war isn't right, Israel needs to find a different way", no one would have paid attention. If it made anyone uncomfortable, they are being forced to look at personal demons. He’s facing what he did; it may be on the advice of others, but he’s showing us that we can face our demons, if we have to. This is very Plutonian, and not easy to do, and he must be wary of any manipulation, which will come back to haunt him.

He’s also showing us that fighting something from rage no longer works. We attract things into our life in a lightning fashion now. What we give out comes back to us faster than ever.

Bigotry

He has attracted circumstances that will bring a major spiritual change. The boomerangs of bigotry and hate inflict quite a wound, and the sender is the one who falls. (Falling is Saturn.) Bigotry takes many forms, whether it's against race, or life style. Judgment also holds a negative vibe that returns negative results. People harbor judgments against fat people, skinny people, the elderly, the poor, the rich, the smart, the dumb, third world countries, or developed countries.

Both bigotry and judgment stem from the fear of not being able to control something, and control is hard to let go of in our world. Control relates to both Saturn and Pluto, which are now active in his chart.

It’s up to him to attract good mentors, and come up with the courage to embrace new views. We all have this opportunity now thanks to him. Again, get past the person, the hateful words, and the personality, (not always easy to do).

The Passion of the Christ

His movie The Passion of the Christ, and the accusation that it's anti-Semitic, is up again. He must look at his motives for the movie. If they came from a high spiritual truth, the reaction will soon blow over. Any religion that hangs onto the belief that “I am the only way”, d@mn you if you don’t believe what I tell you, or I'll be saved by the rapture, is in for a rude awakening.

In the New Testament, there’s a story that Christ chased the money changers out of the temple, now it's time to chase out the fear mongers, and the religious manipulators. Most of us are learning that personal integrity is the way to heaven and happiness, not lining someone else's pockets. Find the spirit within, and you’ll attract the right one without. Movies and spirituality are both Neptune issues.

Substance Abuse

His fight with alcoholism was handled in a compassionate and graceful way. This indicates we're getting a handle on substance abuse. We're being given a message that we're doing a good job, and that we'll make it. Unfortunately, our society makes big money on alcohol and drugs. Alcohol is encouraged, and mostly in negative ways, and to some it’s a symbol of status or peer recognition, a $1,000 bottle of wine, or a having a beer with the guys. Even sharing a line is a status symbol. I'm not painting a rosy Neptunian picture of the future of alcohol and drugs, but I saw that we're pointed in the right direction.

There are many people out there making great headway in regards to alcoholism. There are many people out there desiring to stay straight. I've watched many close friends as they try to make their way through life in sobriety, and find ways to transform. I myself can't go near the stuff, and I'm not part American Indian. Lucky for me, I never acquired the taste.

Just as an aside, I often wonder how society in the Middle Ages up to the Renaissance advanced as much as they did, since the only safe beverage was Meade or some such thing. Either they had strong livers, or they were tipsy most of the day.

I have to give him credit; he came up with such a perfect attraction to show him the corrections that are needed. He acknowledged he's been fighting alcoholism for a long time. Maybe his announcements were just publicity statements in the beginning, but it's something that will start to change him, and the world will follow.

War

Everyone wonders why the wars keep going on. In our consensus reality, we make a war on everything, the war against crime, the war against drugs, the fight against cancer, and the battles between religions. It's embedded in our psyche to fight, and so are the words battle, and the word fight. They're attached to almost everything the government does, and most allopathic medicine. The medical field is proud of the claim that they practice heroic medicine.

His movies are about fighting, as shown by the title, Lethal Weapon. However, we see that although guns are lethal weapons, they are not the cause of our problems. Emotions are the true cause of all fights, and words can be weapons. The internet has made this obvious through emails and flaming.

Mel is a mirror for the world. This incident is one among many forcing us to take more responsibility for what we say, to look at the way we relate to others, and reach out to them in a new way. It may take crumbling economies to do this, hopefully not

The Neptune Generation

Neptune, which is involved in his natal t-square, is the sign of spirituality and compassion. In his chart, it's in the sign of Scorpio. His generation is involved in deep, spiritual change. Scorpio is the dark, hidden side of life, and Scorpio’s death theme is one way to bring about major transformation. Neptune is not organized religion; it is about spirit, and merging on a higher level. Anyone born between 12/25/55 – 3/11/56, 10/19/56 – 6/15/57, or 8/6/57 – 11/6/70 is dealing with spiritual transformation, for themselves and the world. Look at the things happening for those from ages 35 - 51 for more clues.

Neptune is fantasy, illusion, and subtle coercion. His films bring universal changes by stirring things up, whether through death by a lethal weapon, or a cross.

The Numbers

The day of the arrest, 7/28/2006 is a seven. This is a spiritual number, a number of wisdom and knowledge. The time of the event was 2:36 AM, which is an 11. This is the first master number, a number of teaching, illumination, and revelation. This incident shows that we are all being given the chance to transform, leave behind our hypocrisies, and walk through to a higher level.
Those of you who are reading this are taking advantage of these opportunities. Those who didn’t hear the news, or don’t care, are going in a different direction.

Stars are messengers, movies stars that is, well actually, so are the stars in the heavens.

And yes, I thought Braveheart was crappy.

A Fall From Grace

A good point has been brought up in a comment I received, so I'll continue to talk about what happened with Mel Gibson from an astrological perspective.

The comment from NVMojo.: "With a nation of alcoholics, recovering alcoholics or others who struggle with the grip of substance abuse in their lives, I am surprised at the gross overreaction to this event in the first place. Drunks say sh@t. It's the way that it is. The man needs help. I hope he gets it."

Yes, this is an instance where our lack of compassion is warped.

The story Of Mel Gibson is astrology in action, par excellence, and astrology helps explain some of the hoopla.

There are other posts about Mel Gibson at the following websites Astrology at the Movies and Astrofuturetrends.

If he had a session with me before this happened, I would have told him to stay low during this time. His natal chart shows conflict with authorities through Saturn. That it would affect his status and reputation is shown by Pluto to the Midheaven; that it would tie in with money, both his an others, is shown by Saturn in the 2nd oppose natal Venus in the 8th.

If he came to me after the incident, I would have told him to make his statement during a Void of Course Moon. President Reagan used this technique successfully during his years in office. I don’t know the time of the release, but if it was during the VOC Moon, the intense reactions to his statement will die out.

Since so many other aspects have been explained in the other posts, I will go into the notoriety of this event, hassles with authorities, and his fall from grace, and how it will affect his finances, and career.

First, this was brought to the public eye because of the Moon. The Moon rules the public, and the progressed Moon was in aspect to a very difficult natal t-square. The closer an aspect gets, the more active it is. In this case, it was "in his face."

That the situation started in a confrontation with authorities is shown by transit Saturn. Saturn rules authority, and Saturn is the judge. If you do something wrong, he makes you accountable, no matter what the circumstances. Saturn does not deal with feelings, or extenuating circumstances, only facts.

Saturn has always been involved with what we call a “fall from grace”. The higher you are, the harder you fall. Obviously, if this had been a local incident of an unknown person, it would have never made the papers in such a big way.

Saturn is going through his second house, and anyone who has dealt with this transit knows how financially difficult it is if you aren’t up to standard. If you don’t follow the rules, or if your money and/or possessions aren't good for you, Saturn will cut them down. The fact that Saturn opposed his natal Venus in the 8th house, shows that other people’s money came into play. It cuts down money from other people as well. Venus rules money in general, and the 8th house is loans, debts, taxes, (money that belongs to someone else), so this is doubly important financially.

Luckily for him, Saturn and Venus are not in a hard aspect in his natal chart. If they were, he' lose a lot of money. His unexpected success with Mad Max came at the time of the last Saturn opposition to Venus. It may have been over 20 years ago, but Saturn always leaves a string attached. Since then he has amassed close to a billion dollars, What this all boils down to is money and power. In the movie business, manipulation, jealousy, and fear are rampant, and if the people who make the money deals (the authorities in this situation) want to take away his influence, they now have an excuse. The power issues over his reputation and career is further enforced by the Pluto square to his Midheaven. Pluto brings in big change, Neptune is a co-ruler of his Midheaven, and in his natal chart, Neptune and Pluto are trine. This is a positive change in disguise, which fits the nature of Neptune and Pluto.

There were several good transits on that day, unfortunately the natal chart does not have good aspects between these planets, this lessens their beneficial effects.

My next point is a wide stretch for new astrologers. He has a natal trine between Saturn, Uranus and the Midheaven. The Midheaven acts as a release point. If he works hard (Saturn) in unexpected, unconventional (Uranus) ways, he'll salvage his reputation. Uranus doesn't like to kowtow to authority, but in this case he's already found a way to start.

I have one last comment. Natal Mercury, which is involved in the current difficult t-square, rules his fourth house of home and family. This shows why his father's character is being blamed for many of his flaws.

Our world is a microcosm within a macrocosm. This event is part of a bigger picture, a reflection of what is going on in our world.

Enough said, but if anyone really wants to know the metaphysical/spiritual symbols let me know in the comment section, and I’ll do another post.

The Mars Hoax

It's that time of year again for the Mars hoax; an email sent around the net claiming Mars will be bigger than the Moon on August 27, 2006. It's not going to happen. This email has become a yearly event since August 27, 2003 when Mars was the closer to Earth than anytime in 60,000 years. But it wasn't as big as the Moon - only in your dreams.

Even though it's incorrect, this email is a good thing; it reminds us that we need to work with Mars energy.

From an astrological perspective, the closeness of Mars to the Earth was important. Mars is warrior energy, and since we've been exposed to Mars, the wars that have been erupting all over the planet have become more obvious. And to make it worse, Mars started a six month retrograde in a fixed sign last fall.

This has affected everyone in some way. People feel and manifest the Mars energy on many different levels. The negative side is anger, rage, lashing out, defiance, egotism, force, impulsiveness, selfishness, and insensitivity. The positive side is courage, passion, action, determination, energy, enterprise, enthusiasm, heroism, and motivation.

It's easy to be caught up in the fear and violence of the world. We need to keep reminding ourselves to develop the positive qualities of Mars. I know -- it's hard to stay balanced and stay on a good course when everyone around us is strung out, and depressed. I miss the smiles I used to get from people as I went about my daily business. We've become afraid of each other, heck we're afraid of our own shadows.

We've become afraid of each other, heck we're afraid of our own shadows.
It's important to spend even a few moments in silence when we start our day, connecting with whatever power, force, or Great Spirit we believe (it's not even necessary to believe) keeps our world going. It's amazing what even a few seconds will do. You don't have walk through life alone. That's the hard way.

This connection is even more important in the new few weeks. First, Mars makes an opposition to Uranus, aggression against shocking disruption. Second, we are building up to Saturn opposition Neptune, reality versus fantasy. If you thought life has been crazy in the past few weeks, wait until this energy hits you.

I’ve noticed the aspects are already starting. There is a feeling of something being wrong, off kilter, but I can't put my finger on it. It's just a knowing. I find myself trying to do more than is reasonable. People are getting louder and more frenetic.

Notice how you feel, and what you think. This is important. This is how we use hard aspects in astrology. It's the hard aspects that bring growth, and if we are willing to work through the difficulties, they bring incredible rewards.

Listen to the negative chatter in your mind. It tells you what you really don't want in your life. Use all that forceful energy to root out these things.

Mel Gibson - A BAD Boy with a Lethal Weapon

Are we seeing the real side of Mel Gibson? Why does he think his life's going down the tubes? What’s really going on?

Last Friday, 7/28, 2:36 AM PDT, Gibson was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol, (DUI).

There were attempts to sweep this incident under the rug, but it just got uglier when it was uncovered by tmz.com that he made inflammatory remarks about Israel, said his life was messed up (f…d), and made sexist remarks to one of the female officers.

With the the sexist remark, he has become the butt of jokes of most late night shows.

Click here for Mel Gibson's charts

Mel has a Capricorn Sun with a Cancer ascendant putting his need for success and respect in a close opposition to the way he presents himself to the world. Cancer is the sign of home and family, and everyone is blaming his strict Catholic upbringing as the root of the problem. He was raised in a home that followed a strict adherence to the Old Catholic rules and ceremonies.

He has a difficult natal configuration called a t-square between Uranus, Neptune and Mercury. Difficult Uranus in his first house makes him erratic and rebellious. With the square to Neptune, alcohol and any mind-altering drug brings out his nasty side. Mercury adds verbal abuse, his own or others. On this night, his progressed Moon triggered this disastrous t-square. Uranus caught him off guard, and makes this attraction an unexpected media feeding frenzy. The last time the progressed Moon was conjunct Uranus was in 1979, the era of his Mad Max fame. What did he do back then that was not resolved? The Moon uncovers hidden issues in the subconscious that need to be dealt with. He’s bringing them head on, or he wouldn’t have attracted this event.

There are many other important current aspects:
Transit Uranus square the natal nodes.
Transit Pluto square natal Midheaven.
Transit Saturn oppose natal Venus
Transit Jupiter square natal Venus; yes that’s another t-square.
Mars recently squared progressed Saturn and progressed Sun

His life is TENSE with all this going on in his chart. No wonder he said he life is F….d. The fear of aging is coming up soon due to Saturn square Saturn.

Pluto squares his natal Midheaven, his reputation in the world. Pluto never lets anyone hide shameful or disgusting parts; it puts them where everyone can see them.

Mars in recent square to Saturn and the Sun, exacts a price when he turns a body part into a lethal weapon, even though it was only with words.

His life is TENSE with all this going on in his chart. No wonder he said he life is F….d. The fear of aging is coming up soon due to Saturn square Saturn.

After this incident, his free ride may be over. Was this his intuitive nature coming out under the influence of Neptune? Did he intuit wha't in the stars?

I doubt this will be the final ruination. Lucky for him, there are currently too many postive aspects in his chart for his life to be totally demolished.

This is another “Pay Attention” moment. I've received a few symbolic bits and pieces. It's bigger than we think; it's not just about him. As soon as I piece it all together, I’ll let you know.

Mel Gibson and Fidel Castro

I'm off and running this morning, but I have a minute to post the link to charts for Fidel Castro and Mel Gibson.
I'll be back later with more information, but it's slow going on the East Coast of the US with the second heat wave this summer. Thank goodness it finally cooled off in Europe. I had trouble thinking about that one. Europe is one of my favorite places.
