Pluto in Capricorn and Mumbai Terrorist Attack

Pluto has shown us its power this week with a tragic event of death and destruction. On November 26, 2008, 2300 local time, several areas of Mumbai, India were simultaneously attacked by a group calling itself Deccan Mujahideen. The media has reported that the terrorist attack in Mumbai, India is the greatest global attack this year.

Hotels, cafés, people in the street, and a community center were targeted and the death toll as of 11/29/2008 is 195. The attack lasted until November 29 when the terrorists were finally overtaken and hostages released.

Pluto entered Capricorn 11/26/08, 8:03 pm EST, 1:03 AM GMT, 6:33 AM IST (Indian Time which is 5:30 hours later than GMT). This is called an ingress. Frequently, as a planet leaves one sign to enter another, a mundane event ties the two signs together. Pluto in Sagittarius is about terrorism, and Pluto in Capricorn is about structure (buildings) and things that are old. India is among one of the oldest of our cultures.

In mundane astrology, India is ruled by Capricorn, and this is an astrological connection to Pluto in Capricorn. The first major event of any ingress often gives us an idea as to what can happen, as a planet traverses a sign. Pluto will be in Capricorn for 17 years until 2025. Pluto has been in Sagittarius since 1995.

To make matters worse, Uranus was stationing at the start of the attack and went direct on November 27, 2008. Uranus is the planet of rebels. Uranus comes in unexpectedly and creates chaos. We are still in range of the Saturn Uranus opposition, which coincided with the American presidential election of November 4, 2008, and the stock market dive of October 2008.

In Mundane Astrolgy planetary aspects are usually activated by the new or full Moon. A New Moon in Sagittarius, the sign of foreigners, occured on November 27, 2008.

Mumbai was known previously as Bombay. The name was changed by an act of the Indian parliament in 1997.
